AUTHOR DELVON JOHNSON ADDRESSES JL KING SCANDAL AT PRESS CONFERENCE

Today, Delvon Johnson, author of critically acclaimed novel, Love Yourself First, held a press conference where he talked about his dealings with down low author, JL King. King apparently promised Mr. Johnson to market and promote his novel via televion, print and radio to make it a number one best seller. He also talked about the sexual advances that King made toward Johnson when he traveled to Atlanta to sign the contract. It seems Mr. Johnson's next step in this scandal is to take King to court for the money he paid, in addition to travel, and the loss of finances that Johnson lost due to King's derrogatory statements about Love Yourself First.

NOVELIST DELVON JOHNSON ADDRESSES ISSUES WITH "DL AUTHOR" JL KING

Local black gay novelist Delvon Johnson, author of the critically-acclaimed book Love Yourself First made statements today addressing his ongoing difficulties wit the On The Down Low Author, JL King. King, who operates Urban Moon and JL King Publishing, both vanity publishing houses, has been soliciting thousands of dollars from aspiring authors of color for "marketing" and "publication" services, which he has apparently not delivered. Mr Johnson, seeking to promote and market Love Yourself First, met with Mr. King last summer in Atlanta for the purpose of arranging for Mr. King to represent Mr. Johnson and his book. Upon arrival in Atlanta, Mr. King assure Mr. Johnson he he could, in fact,, make Love Yourself First a "national bestseller", and give Mr. Johnson exposure on TV, radio, and print media. A $1500 fee was agreed upon with an open-ended contract and Mr. King held a photo shoot for Mr. Johnson, the purpose of which was to promote, market, and announce Mr. Johnson and his book.

However, after these photos were taken,, Mr. King used them , without Mr Johnson's consent, on Mr. King's website,, to promote himself, rather than Mr. Johnson. During Mr. Johnson's stay in Atlanta, Mr. King also made unsolicited sexual advances toward Mr. Johnson via text message. In spite of this, Mr. Johnson continued to maintain a professional relationship with Mr King, in the belief that Mr. King, through his celebrity and industry experience, could advance Mr. Johnson's career to a higher level.

Subsequent agreements were made in which Mr. Johnson agreed to assist Mr. King in promoting Mr. King's works and publishing houses, in lieu of cash payments to Mr King. As time passed, Mr King failed to deliver any tangible marketing or representation services to Mr. Johnson, while continuing to demand upfront payments. It is Mr. Johnson's belief that Mr. King is using his celebrity and notoriety within the black gay community to take advantage of authors who are seeking to develop their literary careers. By publicly describing his experience with Mr. King, Mr. Johnson hopes to prevent others from becoming victimized by Mr. King.

Love Yourself First has been turned from a book to a Brand

I'm back and ready to conquer the world! Hello fans and everyone. I have been neglecting my poor little blog page because I have been so busy with all of my projects and turning Love Yourself First into a fabulous brand. I hope you missed me, because I missed you. We have a lot to talk about.
  • First off, there is an new and innovative television network scheduled to come out on 10-10-10. Yes darlings, I am talking about the Embrace Media Networks. It sounds like such a great network, which will be primarily focussed for African Americans of the LGBT community. All of the shows on this fantastic new network will be originally programmed. Some of the shows will include EPWN ( Embrace Politics with Will & Nate), The Doo Dirty Show Live, and Queendom, starring BeBe (Last Year's winner for Ru Paul's drag race) Watch out Logo, Bravo, and the rest of the girlz! It seems that Embrace will be hitting the scene hard. The word is out and execs are running for cover.
  • Did I fail to mention that Delvon Johnson's debut novel, Love Yourself First is also being optioned for an Embrace TV Show? Yes! Yes! Yes! And if you haven't read the book, what the hell are you waiting for? This book is fire! It's still five stars on Amazon, and have you seen it's fierce new cover? Viewers get ready for the newest and hottest show since Noah's Arc! From what I know, the filming is taking place over the summer.
  • Extra, Extra, read all about it!!! A new hot magazine is out called Cinematiq . I had the opportunity to get a sneak peak at it and it is simply fabulous. Crisp, fresh, and it's focus is film for the gay community!

A LOOK INSIDE THE OUT MUSIC AWARDS 2009

For the first time, I had to the opportunity to attend the Out Music Awards on December 8th, 2009. It was the first time that I had a close and intimate encounter with the countless talented gay folk being given homage for their outstanding music achievements.
The evening began with a Red Carpet segment. Cameras flashing everywhere as the gay and fabulous hit the red carpet for photo ops. The Logo channel graced us with their presence as they interviewed nominees and some of the gay celebrities as they exited the Red Carpet. Although I was among the huge crowd of paparazzi, I also managed to get some pictures on the Red Carpet as well.
After finishing the Red Carpet segment, if you were among the fabulous, we headed into the pre awards show. Again, cameras were all over. This was the room where you could find the hottest magazines media, blog sites’ management and TV crews. I had several interviews, one of which was with GO magazine. The gust of excitement was simply outrageous.
I was a bit shocked when the pre-show didn’t have a microphone available to announce various winning nominees. Amongst all the commotions, the host had to shush people and shout at the top of her lungs to properly ensure that everyone could hear who won different categories. That was messy!
While all of this excitement was happening in the pre-awards, the roaring crowd outside was growing wild. The brisk cold and wind had fans yearning for heat and simply general admission to get in. Hundreds of people huddled to keep warm until they were finally admitted in I really don’t think the staff were prepared for the event to be so huge. Clearly, the staff at Webster Hall wasn’t ready for what the gays were giving them that night. To top of the night, there were so many people, that the VIP area for the awards show was opened to the public. The entire venue was totally packed
Finally, the main show was under way. The hosts of the event was Noah’s Arc’s Rodney Chester, and Kate Clinton. Fans screamed and enjoyed themselves as the various artists graced the stage to perform. R&B gay singing sensation J.R. gave a superb performance of his hit “ Addicted to Boys.” I later had the opportunity to chat with J.R., and in fact, a remix of Addicted to Boys will be released in the near future!
Legendary performer and artist, Kevin Aviance was in attendance and in fact received the Lifetime Achievement award. Although there was speculation of why he should have received the award, I really didn’t see why another would be chosen. Then again, I really don’t know who else could have been. Kevin has been turning it out since I actually came out, so perhaps his award was well deserved. I’m pretty sure that Kevin wasn’t happy when they cut his performance out of the agenda due to time constraints.
Also, there was a tribute to legendary vogue sensation, Willie Ninja. His camp came in and turned it out! I was truly impressed. There was a time when I could vogue, but those days are long gone with my youth. I commend those are older and can still pump!
The night was far from over after the OMA’s were done. Queens, nominees and press hopped in cabs, limos and subways to hit the after party, which was held at Grace Hotel, located in mid-town on 45th street. When I arrived, it was evident that this was going to be a party that wouldn’t be forgotten. First of all, there was a swimming pool in the middle between the two lounges, which had men dressed as fish swimming in the pool. The music was pumping and so was the girlz! The drinks flowed all night as did the interviews. Amongst some of the celebs that were on the scene was Erotic Author, Nathan James, Dating Dwight’s, Dwight Allen O’neil, along with his crew from Christopher Street TV, Noah’s Arcs’, Rodney Chester, Kevin Aviance, Maurice Runea, and a host of others! It was a scene from the movies! Check out some of the pictures and outrageous performances. I simply can’t wait until next year!

Rawsistaz Reviews Love Yourself First

LOVE YOURSELF FIRST welcomes the reader into the bourgeoisie world of Vondel Consulting and the drama that encompasses the lives of Dwight Jones and Issiah Richards. Both are drama queens who endlessly seek love in all the wrong places. Their tumultuous lives are further enhanced when Joan Marks figures into the equation. A diva with her own agenda, Joan wreaks havoc on Vondel Consulting. Will Dwight and Issiah be successful in seeking revenge? Will Joan reap what she sows? While she is weaving her web of lies, Joan's fiancé, Maurice, is entangled in his own web of deceit. In this tale of love, lies, betrayal and deception, the reader is entranced by the never-ending drama in the homosexual and the down low lives of these colorful characters. For a first time author, surprisingly Delvon Johnson's work has a heavy E. Lynn Harris influence. The book is a page-turner from beginning to end. I anxiously await his future work! AUTHOR DELVON JOHNSON GOES ON DJ BAKER'S DOO DIRTY SHOW

A few weeks ago, I was invited to be interviewed on Da Doo Dirty Show, by DJ Baker. When I arrived at the studio, I was ready to talk about my book, Love Yourself First. There were several interviews ahead of me, so I had the chance to see DJ’s interviewing tactics. Boy, was fierce! The first thing that came to mind was “Oh shit, I am in trouble” He was coming at the guests with NO HOLDS BARRED. Something I always learned is when listening to interviews is to always answer the question that the person is asking. By doing this, it puts you in a position that you have nothing to hide. The moment the person interviewing you feels that you have something to hide, then you are toast!
Finanlly, it was my turn to hit the hot seat. There was so much that I wanted to talk about in the interview, that his questions and my answers were just smooth flow. I was taken by some of the questions he asked, but I answered them. When he asked me “ Do you spit or swallow.”, my stomach just about hit the floor, but I didn’t stammer. Instead, I asked him “ Spit or swallow what? Soda?” I then proceeded to answer his question, knowing what he meant and said that I spit. In addition, I always brought it back to my book, Love Yourself First, which is what got me in the hot seat in the first place.
After the interview, he asked me who my celebrity dream date would be, or better yet, who I would like to sleep with celebrity wise, and I told him Morris Chestnut. I have always thought that tall black man was enough to make me get married and cook meals. I have followed his career and if that opportunity ever came, those Hollywood bitches better watch out!
Kudos to DJ Baker for the great interview. I think I will be on his show again in the near future. I really enjoyed being on his show, and I think that his interviewing tactics has taught me to be ready for anything when I am on the air. Since then, we have hung out, become very cool and his realness has made him a new friend. I even gave him a cameo appearance in my latest book I am working on. Also, if you haven’t already, you need to pick up Love Yourself First. It has 4.5 stars on Amazon and is sure to be a NY Best Seller. Be sure to chick out the video too! It is simply too much!!!!!

Has anyone had the opportunity to hear Mariah’s new album? I did have the chance to hear it and unfortunately wasn’t impressed by it. Its called Memoirs of a Imperfect Angel. Now don’t get me wrong , because I love me some Mariah! I have supported her work when everyone else thought that she was losing her mind and the whole gambit. Critics dogged glitter as a movie and the soundtrack, but I loved it when no one else did. Memoirs of a Imperfect Angel was a lot of Love Ballads. Now Mariah, we all know that you are loving Nick and enjoy your new married life, but you should have put some more songs on the album that we could move to. The only song on the album that I found even close to a pop feel was obsessed, and I don’t even want to go there. I think Eminem already did! The fabulous B. Smith had the opportunity the interview Mariah, and you all can click on the interview and check it out. At first, I was worried about Whitney, since her album was coming out first and Mariah had delayed hers. I was afraid that Mariah’s album might give Whitney a run for her money, but boy was I wrong! Whitney’s album is FANTASTIC! She had pulled herself together and turned back into that powerful diva she once used to be. I am so proud of her. Million Dollar Bill is my favorite song on the album and when I go out, everyone in the club is singing it in unison. If you haven’t got Ms. Houston’s Album, you certainly don’t know what you’re missing!
