Red Carpet Tribute to E. Lynn Harris Gala

On October 24th, 2009, I gave a Red Carpet Gala Tributing E. Lynn Harris. After countless weeks of preparation, the night had finally come and I was ready. It was very difficult putting this entire night together, but I made it through, and it was very successful.
The decorations were beautiful . Fresh flower arrangements were perfectly stationed around the bar with a flicker of tea lights setting an intimate ambiance. Elegant white balloons hung from the high ceiling to give the effect of a sophisticated red carpet event. As I looked around the room, I must say I was please with all of what I was able to accomplish.
Even though the weather was really bad, the turnout was still fantastic. When my driver pulled up, I must say I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, as I walked up the red carpet, I was pleased to see a great amount of people sitting patiently waiting for the delicious appetizers to be served. Shortly after the food was brought out, champagne followed. It was very classy and chic.
Originally, Karen Hunter was supposed to be the key note speaker for the evening, but due to unextinuating circumstances, she was unable to attend. I was contacted by one of E. Lynn’s dear friends, Nathan James, and he actually asked to speak at the Gala. I was thrilled to have him, especially since he was a fellow author, and he was good friends with E. Lynn. He ended up being the key note speaker for the evening and was simply breathtaking! I was very gracious to him for speaking at such short notice. The audience loved what his speech.
Local singing sensation Sushi Fresh blessed us with his singing talents. He was quite a treat. The host of the Gala, and my screenplay writer, Pam Rea, did a stunning job. Once the ceremony was over, the music started and people began to mingle. Cameras flashed on the red carpet and interviews took place. Television Host, Maurice Ruinea even attended and made his way to the red carpet for an interview.
My phone has been ringing off the hook with people wanting to know how the Gala went. I figured posting this blog would be a perfect way for everyone to get a glance of what it was like. I also decided that I am going to host something like this annually. I think next year’s event, which will probably be more toward the end of the summer, will be an even bigger success. The 2nd annual Tribute to E. Lynn Harris Gala will be held in NYC around August 2009.
